1. What I like about the book?:

I like how the book is designated to be very handy and practical. This book is more like a manual that will help the readers to quickly move from section to section by the identifiable black tab in the right margin. Suitable with its content; poisoning and drug overdose, it is an easy and quick reference for practitioner and also healthcare students to find practical advice for emergency treatment and toxicity cases. The author has also included diagram, flow charts and numerous tables in the book which makes the content of the book more attractive and interesting. Other that that, this book also lists common poisons and drugs in alphabetical order which is more convenient for the readers to obtain the needed information.

2. Brief content of the book:

This book is divided into 4 sections. Section 1 provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for emergency cases and proper step-wise approach. Section 2 lists specific poisons and drugs that focus in detail about its toxicity level and respective treatment associated with each substance. Section 3 describes further explanation about therapeutic drugs and antidotes related to section 1 and 2. In section 4, readers can look for approach to hazardous materials incidents and the evaluation of occupational exposure. This section also includes summary of potential health hazard associated with exposure to several hundred chemicals. There is also index at the back of the book for easier access to generic drug and chemical name with numerous updated brands and commercial products.

3. Does it suit you or any other programs and why?:

I feel that this book is a good additional reference for me as a pharmacy student. Poisoning and drug overdose is the most common factor contributing to death. Hence, a pharmacy student should master and have comprehensive understanding in this particular knowledge. It is also a good read for those who are interested to work in chemical industry because this book provide insight on occupational toxicity and hazard associated with industrial chemicals. In my opinion, this book is certainly useful to all medical stream students for deeper understanding on the toxicity of drugs and its therapeutic approach.

4. Would you recommend this book to your colleagues and why?:

I would highly recommend this book to my colleagues as the content of the book is very detailed and easy to be comprehended. As far as what I have learnt in these 2 years as pharmacy students, lecture notes only touch a brief information about drug toxicity. So, I think this book is a good reference to get further explanation about it. In my view, this book will help the readers to become a more informative and proactive healthcare professional with the provided emergency treatment approach and additional information.
